Manchester City are now aiming to conclude an agreement and deal for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush in the next two days, it is being reported.

The Premier League champions have firmly identified the Egypt international as their number one target for the attacking roles this month, having moved swiftly to secure two new defensive options to bolster Pep Guardiola’s rearguard.

Much of Manchester City’s struggles this season have been put down to reoccurring injury problems in defence, and as part of the club’s future planning, they have moved effectively to bring in a 19-year-old and 20-year-old to the squad.

Abdukodir Khusanov is expected to become the Premier League’s first-ever Uzbekistan international player as he switches from Lens in a €40 million deal, while Vitor Reis is completing a move from Palmeiras for an initial £29.5 million fee.

But in the background, City are continuing to work hard on progressing conversations over a new attacking recruit, and that comes through Omar Marmoush, who may have played his final game for Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday night.

According to a new report from Sky Germany’s Patrick Berger, negotiations between Eintracht Frankfurt and Manchester City for Omar Marmoush remain ongoing, with the Premier League champions aiming to finalise a deal within the next 48 hours.

It is pointed out that City’s latest proposal of around €65 million was deemed ‘not enough’, and it is expected that an agreement will come in the region of a €70 million fixed fee, plus a further €5 million to €10 million in add-ons.

Perhaps the most interesting detail is that it is now being described as ‘unlikely’ that Omar Marmoush will play for Eintracht Frankfurt in their next Bundesliga clash on Friday night against Borussia Dortmund.

Marmoush further added to his remarkable tally for Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday night as he provided two assists and a goal of his own in a 4-1 home victory over SC Freiburg in Bundesliga action.

That takes the player’s overall tally for the ongoing German top-flight season up to 15 goals and 10 assists in just 17 appearances, further emphasising just why Manchester City are so determined to bring him into the club at the earliest opportunity.

Manchester City will travel to Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon in their latest Premier League outing, having thrown away a 0-2 lead with 13 minutes remaining on Tuesday night against Brentford to come away from the Gtech Community Stadium with just a point.
