Osasuna defender confident about beating Barcelona – ‘We can do it’ | OneFootball

After surviving a scare and returning with a victory against Benfica on Wednesday, FC Barcelona will be back in action in La Liga this weekend as they take on CA Osasuna.

The Blaugrana are now top of the table, leading Atletico Madrid by one point and having a three-point advantage over reigning champions Real Madrid.

The aim will be to stretch their advantage further but the game against Osasuna will be far from straightforward, considering that they already beat Barça 4-2 in the reverse fixture this season back in September.

Jesus Areso confident ahead of Barcelona encounter

Ahead of their visit to Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic this weekend, Osasuna full-back Jesus Areso claimed that they are confident about repeating the result of the previous meeting against Barcelona and defeating them once again.

“The game against Barça in the first round was similar to this one (…) I think it can be done, we can do it, and we’re going for it,” said Areso, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“But we have to play a perfect game and make sure they’re not playing at their best either,” he added.

The previous game between the two teams saw Osasuna take a two-goal lead in the first half, but Barcelona pulled a goal back through Pau Victor soon after the half-time break.

However, Osasuna scored twice more to seal the victory, with Lamine Yamal’s late strike proving to be a consolation goal.

Having reclaimed the lead in the title race, Barça will be eager to avoid any slip-ups and ensure that they continue to hold an advantage over their rivals.
