Former Real Madrid and Roma defender Christian Panucci was harshly critical towards the displays of Milan and Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana semifinal, as he described the match as a ‘parade of mistakes’.
The Bianconeri went ahead in the first half through Kenan Yildiz, but a blatant error from Manuel Locatelli after the break led the referee to award a penalty for the Rossoneri, which Christian Pulisic converted before Federico Gatti deflected a Yunuss Musah cross into his own net to complete Milan’s comeback.

Commenting on the two sides’ performance as a TV pundit at the end of the match, Panucci claimed the level shown on the pitch didn’t make the game a good ‘advertisement’ for Italian football, insisting the Rossoneri’s new manager Sergio Conceição was ‘lucky’ to come out with a win.
“We want to export our football abroad, but this didn’t seem like the best advertisement,” the 51-year-old told Sportmediaset after the match.
“Juve vs Milan was a parade of mistakes. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. Conceição was lucky today, and we can say that he made his first step in the right direction.”

As a result, the Rossoneri will meet their city rivals Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana final on Monday – the Nerazzurri emerged 3-0 winners when they faced each other in the same competition in January 2023, while Milan lifted the trophy by beating them 2-1 in 2011.
