Pep Guardiola hails ‘incredible’ Real Madrid star after UCL clash | OneFootball

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola was quick to reveal his admiration for a member of the attacking ranks at Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

The player in question? Vinícius Jr.

Wide-man Vinícius of course played a leading role yesterday evening, as Real Madrid mounted their latest last-gasp comeback, to triumph by three goals to two at The Etihad.

The Brazilian featured from the off in the clash, and was credited with a pair of assists, including that for Jude Bellingham’s injury-time winner.

This came despite something of a hostile atmosphere having been awaiting Vinícius in Manchester.

Ahead of kick-off, the 24-year-old was met with a sizable banner in the stands at The Etihad, showcasing Rodri lifting the Ballon d’Or, accompanied by the caption:

‘Stop crying your heart out.’

Speaking to the media in the game’s aftermath, the subject of the banner in question was in turn put to Man City boss Pep Guardiola.

And the Spanish tactician made use of the opportunity to afford full credit to Vinícius for his response:

“Maybe the banner motivated Vinícius Jr… He’s incredible, an extraordinary footballer.”
