Empoli striker Sebastiano Esposito lived an emotional moment at the San Siro, as he came on in the second half and scored against his parent club Inter on Sunday.
A product of the Nerazzurri youth academy, the 22-year-old made his Serie A debut with the Biscione in 2019 under Antonio Conte, before being loaned out for seven consecutive seasons.
Empoli signed him on loan as well last summer, but the deal included an option-to-buy set at €5m, which they’re expected to trigger after watching the Italian score eight goals from 17 league games this season.

Esposito temporarily halved his side’s disadvantage in the second half before the Nerazzurri scored a third through Marcus Thuram to wrap up a 3-1 win.
The youngster decided not to celebrate after netting against his former club and later took to social media to express all his affection for Inter, as he posted an Instagram story accompanied by a message for the supporters: ‘Dear Inter fans, I apologised to you and you clapped me in return. Now, I thank you’.
