A huge day for all in the Italian capital as the new pope was announced earlier today.
There was also great joy in the Augustinian Convent of Santo Spirito in Florence for the election of Cardinal Prevost as Pope Leo XIV.
“I studied with him in 1983 in Rome, he was a little older than me, then, later, I worked alongside him for five years in the general house in Rome,” recounted Father Giuseppe Pagano in an interview with the media.
“With him you quickly establish a relationship of mutual trust and when we traveled together we also had fun, he is a person who wants to learn, he is interested in things, he has many hobbies, he loves driving a car, he would do it for hours.”
Pagano revealed, “He loves sports. He is a big Roma fan. I spoke to him after the Roma-Fiorentina match. He jokingly told me: ‘Roma’s victory is Francis’ first miracle after his death.”
