Elijah Adebayo is touted to be a decent number nine alternative for Southampton's incoming Championship stint.
One of the biggest perks of being a Premier League star is that they are widely labelled as in-demand players among Championship circles. And barring a few unconventional circumstances, they rightfully stand out to fulfill the high expectations placed on their shoulders.
Now, Southampton are still a Premier League regular but their playing surroundings are set to change soon. The reason behind that is the Saints have made harmony with their soon-to-be Championship status for over half a month now.
That being said, even they will start pursuing proven top-flight players whenever they get any good transfer opportunity. Well, that selection pool is generally short given that not many Premier League stars fancy swapping their current employers for a second-division outfit.
Still, a quick on-field downfall can force promising players to link up with Championship giants.
According to a 3 Added Minutes report, a good example of this can be Luton Town's Elijah Adebayo who is expected to present a strong candidature for leading the Southampton attack.
If you watched the last Premier League season, then Adebayo's name will not come as a big surprise. In all honesty, Luton Town's campaign wasn't much encouraging but their star striker managed to frame a brilliant reputation among the fans.
Not only did Adebayo score a good chunk of Luton's overall goals, but his attacking figures also make for an appreciable reading for a bottom-table club. Further, given his collective Championship miseries at the moment, Adebayo will not want to turn down the Saints if they show some interest in him.
But whether Southampton still holds him in high regard can't be taken for granted. If they do, let's hope that they also manage to bring Adebayo to St. Mary's in the summer.
