As expected, Paris Saint-Germain’s match against FC Nantes, scheduled to take place on the weekend of 12-13 April, has been moved, according to a report from Ouest-France.
PSG wished to move the match in order to allow them to better prepare for their UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Aston Villa. The first leg takes place in Paris the week before with the second leg in Birmingham just days later. However, Les Canaris were initially opposed to such a move, with the Breton club calling into question the sporting integrity of the league.
However, PSG’s request to move the match has been accepted by the LFP. The match will now instead be played on 22nd April. In order to soften the blow, Nantes’ match against Stade Rennais will take place on the Friday night (18th April). Nantes will then face Toulouse FC, likely on Sunday 27th April. Antoine Kombouaré’s side are looking to haul themselves further away from the relegation zone.
PSG, meanwhile, will be well rested and will be able to focus solely on the two-legged Champions League tie against Aston Villa.
