Manchester United loanee Radek Vitek returned to action today with a stunning performance for FC Blau-Weiß Linz against LASK.
The 21 year old has not been in action since the Austrian Bundesliga paused for the winter break on the 8th December.
In their first game back, BW Linz held on for a 0-0 draw away to local rivals LASK and remained in sixth place in the league table.
Vitek was given an impressive rating of 7.9 on Sofascore as he kept another clean sheet.
He is now second in the golden glove race with five shutouts in the league, one behind Adam Stejskal who plays for WSG Tirol.
The Czech keeper made four saves in the match, two of which came from inside the box.
He also made two high claims to alleviate the pressure from his own defenders in the box.
Vitek had 49 touches of the ball and completed 22 of his 31 pass attempts.
His kicking game was not as accurate however, as he could only connect with six of his 15 long ball attempts.
He made three clearances and also won his only ground and aerial battle of the match.
The academy keeper will next be in action when BW Linz host Altach in the league next Saturday afternoon, where he will be aiming to draw level at the top of the golden glove rankings.
One person who will be paying close attention to Vitek’s progress will be United manager Ruben Amorim. Current number one Andre Onana has been far from convincing this season and there have been reports that the Portuguese manager would be keen to upgrade his goalkeeping department.
Vitek has followed up a strong loan at Accrington Stanley last year with another positive spell in Austria and will fancy his chances of making a strong impression in pre-season for the Red Devils this coming summer.
