Roma boss Claudio Ranieri did not sound defeated despite Roma’s disappointing evening in Bilbao.

After the 3-1 loss to Athletic Club, Ranieri spoke to the media in view of the weekend fixture with Cagliari.

“What we must do now is get back on the pitch with the objective of collecting as many points as we can until the end of the season,” he said.

“As for the team, I am proud of these guys because, despite the great difficulties, they fought like lions, helping each other and never giving up.”

“What I always ask for is the performance, and if I have to analyze their performance, I can only say that it was of a high level. The result did not arrive, but that is part of the sport.”

“I also told the guys to think about those who prepare for four years for an event and then maybe make a mistake which ends up costing them their dreams.”

“We made a mistake, and in three days we will already have another match, another opportunity to put things back on track.”
