Giacomo Raspadori gives Napoli teammate Romelu Lukaku ’80 per cent’ credit for his winning goal against Fiorentina, while the Belgian assures they ‘always run the extra metre’ for each other.

The pressure was on the Partenopei to deliver their first home win in six weeks, and it was achieved thanks to Lukaku taking a starring role, as he scored the opener by pouncing on Scott McTominay’s parried effort, then provided the assist by sending Giacomo Raspadori clear.

Albert Gudmundsson pulled one back for Fiorentina to set up a tense finale, but Napoli held on for the much-needed 2-1 victory.

This is Lukaku’s 12th different season in double figures in one of Europe’s top five leagues, as he has now hit 10 Serie A goals this season, along with nine assists.

“The most important thing is the desire we showed against a Fiorentina side that was very hard to beat. It was tough, last week against Inter that performance really motivated the team and we know that we are on the right track,” Lukaku told DAZN.

“We are tough to beat, we defend all together, we do not act as individuals, on or off the field, and that helps. You always run an extra metre for your teammates.”

Considering how well his partnership with Raspadori is working, how does it compare to the old ‘LuLa’ with Lautaro Martinez at Inter?

“This is a new story, we work for the team and we’ll see how far we can go.”

Raspadori is certainly making no bones about who should be named Man of the Match as Napoli beat Fiorentina 2-1 with Lukaku’s goal and assist.

“We know how hard we work to get these results, we suffered a bit too much today and could’ve killed the game off earlier, but the fans were fantastic and we always believed. We’ve got to just keep it going,” Raspadori told DAZN.

“I think 80 per cent of my goal belongs to Rom, as we work so hard on these situations and want to put them into practice on the field. It was a great assist.”

The title race remains wide open, with just one point separating Napoli from Inter at the top of the table and 10 rounds left to play.

“We must keep taking it one game at a time, knowing we are strong. We’re happy with this home win, which we had been missing for a while.”
