The winger has been inconsistent in a Celtic jersey and it looks as though he isn’t what Brendan Rodgers is after in a wide man. The player looks as if he will now follow teammate Stephen Welsh in leaving the club on loan after he sealed a move to Belgium with KV Mechelen.

Both players have been on the periphery of the team for too long now and there are others who have clearly moved ahead of them in the pecking order at Celtic Park. The manager has already reiterated his desire on several occasions for help with the burden that is currently on Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kühn. The two have been consistently formidable for the Hoops and it’s obvious they need help at times throughout the season.

With an injury to James Forrest and Yang not stepping up to the mark either with the latest run of minutes he has been given by the Irishman, it’s now apparent the market place will have to be assessed for more aid in the wide forward areas. Stephen McGowan, of the Scottish Daily Mail, has reported Rayo Vallecano wish to take Luis Palma on loan for the remainder of the season, with a view to making the move permanent for around £2.1 million, if all goes well.

This could be a move that suits Palma’s style of play and also gives him exposure in an extremely technical league. It will also clear room in the squad for any January transfer window additions as the club look to build on their success so far at home and abroad in the UEFA Champions League group stages. Hopefully this one goes through with minimal fuss and Luis can get back to playing regular football which it’s clear he needs.
