In their relentless search for young talent, Real Madrid have now turned their attention to a lesser-known market as they are tracking Saba Kharebashvili, a 16-year-old left-back from Dinamo Tbilisi in Georgia.
This claim comes from Mundo Deportivo, who further report that Real Madrid are facing competition from bitter rivals Barcelona and Premier League giants Liverpool, both of whom are also monitoring his development.
A left-back by trade, Kharebashvili made headlines in July last year when he became the youngest player to debut in a UEFA club competition, featuring for Dinamo Tbilisi in the UEFA Conference League qualifier against FK Mornar Bar.
At just 15 years old, he went on to break the previous record held by Youssoufa Moukoko.
Kharebashvili has gone on to make 28 first-team appearances for Dinamo Tbilisi, even registering three assists in the process.
The 15-year-old prodigy has featured as a left-back mainly, but has also played at right-back and a defensive midfielder while a few appearances have also come in an advanced role on the left flank.
The teenage defensive prospect has played ten games for the Georgian Under-17 national team and has featured four times for the Under-19 side as well, giving an indication of his immense potential.
Real Madrid, who are always alert to special young talents coming through, have shown an interest in Kharebashvili, but will have to face competition from Barcelona and Liverpool.
With some of Europe’s elite clubs now in the race for his signature, Kharebashvili could be the next breakout star to make the leap to a major European league.
