Real Madrid are in need of making some crucial decisions with regard to the future of their defensive department.
ACL Injuries to Eder Militao and Joan Martinez and David Alaba’s delayed recovery, once again put the pressure on Antonio Rudiger to lead from the front and take the lion’s share of the responsibility, while forcing Carlo Ancelotti to bring in Raul Asencio into the fold.
The Merengues are planning changes in the department come next season with Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen poised as the top target – with him, Militao, and Asencio being seen as the defensive core for the future.
At the same time, Real Madrid are also weighing up the situations of Rudiger and Alaba, both of whom are 32 and have contracts expiring in 2026.
As such, according to AS, Rudiger’s continuity at Real Madrid beyond this season might not be not guaranteed at this point.
As related by the Spanish outlet, Rudiger has a tempting offer from Saudi Arabia on his table. Considering the relatively less pressure and the scope to earn more, it is not beyond the realm of possibilities that he might be willing to consider such an option.

The German international is not getting any younger, and at 32 is already one of the oldest players in the Real Madrid locker room. His problem with osteoarthritis, moreover, necessitates more rest than he has required in recent years.
Real Madrid, however, do not even want to hear of his potential exit at the moment, especially given his importance in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans and Real Madrid’s dynamics.
Further, he is highly respected in the dressing room as a leader and a veteran and he has shown tremendous personality and zeal in some of Real Madrid’s most pressuring games this season.
His current contract with the men in white runs until the summer of 2026, and Real Madrid thus do not risk losing him on a free transfer this summer. Yet, they will hope he can stay for another year and not leave in June.
