Real Madrid 'extremely concerned' by Kylian Mbappe slump | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappe's recent drop-off in form has left many inside Real Madrid "extremely concerned", a report in Spain has claimed.

After a bitterly disappointing start to the season, 2025 got off to an electric start for Mbappe, who now has 27 goals in 40 games for Madrid, but he came under fire for an underwhelming performance in his side's 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in midweek.

Tooth surgery late last month saw Mbappe miss the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg against Real Sociedad, and his return has underwhelmed thus far after a similarly disappointing showing against Real Betis. SPORT state club officials are already starting to worry.

Believing Mbappe is not at the physical level he had shown earlier this year, there are fears the Frenchman is set to reignite his struggles from the start of the season.

Mbappe has admitted to struggling mentally when things were not going right on the pitch and the concern among some staff members inside the Santiago Bernabeu is that he will fall into a similar slump again.

Madrid are now set to focus on helping Mbappe rediscover his best physical form, believing that will allow him to start scoring and avoid any worries about his performance levels.

Carlo Ancelotti's side take on Rayo Vallecano on Sunday before the return leg against Atletico on Wednesday, for which Mbappe will be desperate to be at his best.
