Two leading members of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid have spoken out on their respective fitness levels at present.

This comes fresh off another gruelling 90 minutes for Real on Saturday night.

Los Blancos made the trip to La Ceràmica yesterday evening, for a La Liga meeting with Villarreal.

The matchup came less than 72 hours after Carlo Ancelotti’s troops were forced through 120 minutes of intense action against city rivals Atlético in the Champions League.

When all was said and done, Real Madrid nevertheless emerged triumphant, thanking a Kylian Mbappé brace for a comeback 2-1 triumph.

But the fixture had long taken its toll on the visitors’ stars…

After a whole host of members of Ancelotti’s squad were spotted limping and in visible discomfort following the full-time whistle, two such players were drawn on their wellbeing by the media.

As revealed by Blancos insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, first was Federico Valverde, who, in response to questions over a potential injury, assured that he was just ‘very tired’.

Then came Vinícius Jr, who, asked about his ongoing muscular discomfort, assured that it is ‘nothing, nothing’.
