Real Madrid are plotting a move to sign Cole Palmer having been left impressed by the midfielder’s performances at Chelsea.
Palmer has emerged as one of the Premier League’s leading lights since signing for Chelsea from Manchester City 18 months ago. The 22-year-old led the division for goals and assists (33) last season and was named PFA Young Player of the Year in 2023/24.
No player has been directly involved in more Premier League goals than Palmer since his Chelsea debut, while he has set a new record for goal involvements in the league in a calendar year for Chelsea.
Spanish outlet Fichajes are now reporting that Real Madrid are planning an ambitious bid to bring Palmer to the Spanish capital. Los Blancos have been left impressed by his performances and want to unite Palmer with England teammate Jude Bellingham at the Bernabeu.
Chelsea have no interest in selling Palmer, however, who has become the centrepiece of their project.
The West Londoners extended the player’s deal in August with Palmer contracted to Chelsea until 2023. Having signed the midfielder in a £42.5m deal from Manchester City, Chelsea would expect a fee in excess of double that figure.
Palmer enhanced his growing reputation with a double in Chelsea’s 4-3 win over Tottenham at the weekend. His brace of penalties saw him set another record, for the most Premier League penalties scored without ever missing (12).
His second, a delightful Panenka effort lifted down the middle, settled a thrilling London derby win for Enzo Maresca’s side. Chelsea currently sit second in the Premier League table, four points behind leaders Liverpool having played a game more.
