Real Madrid have reportedly decided that Fran Garcia will be sold next summer, according to a recent report from Cadena SER (h/t Estadio Deportivo).

The left-back, who was once expected to become a key figure at the club, is now facing an uncertain future. When Garcia returned to Real Madrid, many saw him as a player who could make a long-lasting impact given his age, physique, and playing style.

However, despite early optimism, Garcia’s journey at the club has not lived up to those high expectations.

Failed to make the most of chances

Since his arrival, Garcia has struggled to find his rhythm in the team. He has often appeared nervous on the field, and this anxiety has persisted over time.

Even the inconsistent performances of Ferland Mendy, combined with the Frenchman’s injuries, have not given Garcia the opportunity to shine. Above all, the potential arrival of Alphonso Davies would practically end his chances of playing for the team.

While he was known for his attacking flair during his time at Rayo Vallecano, where his offensive contributions were widely praised, that same spark has been largely absent in his Real Madrid appearances.

Although Madrid’s style of play is more open and attacking, which could have suited Garcia’s game, his cautious approach has not allowed him to show his best side.

Time’s up

It is clear that securing a starting position at Real Madrid is incredibly difficult, and Garcia’s time at the club has highlighted just how competitive the team is. Nevertheless, his value has not diminished entirely.

His previous performances at Rayo Vallecano, coupled with his international experience, mean that he still has options for his future. If the right conditions arise, he could find a new club with a solid reputation.

One possibility is a return to Rayo Vallecano, though the competition for his signature is likely to be fierce. While his career has not gone as planned, he remains a player with potential suitors.

The 25-year-old is likely to move on next summer unless an opportunity arises sooner. His time at Madrid may not have been as successful as initially hoped, but his journey is far from over.
