The home crowd in attendance at Real Madrid’s meeting with Getafe on Sunday made use of the opportunity to throw their backing behind frontman Kylian Mbappé.

This, of course, comes fresh off another challenging week for the Frenchman.

After Real Madrid were condemned to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday, Mbappé was singled out for widespread blame.

This came owing to a hugely underwhelming display on the part of the summer arrival in Spain’s capital, featuring a missed penalty at a pivotal point in proceedings at Anfield.

Safe to say, then, that Mbappé’s confidence was likely at a new low, heading into this evening’s La Liga clash against Getafe.

The Real Madrid faithful were therefore quick to showcase their support for the club’s toiling attacker.

At various points over the course of the first-half, those in attendance at the Santiago Bernabéu came together in unison to belt out chants of:

‘Mbappé! Mbappé! Mbappé!’

And the former Paris Saint-Germain standout responded in kind, bending home a brilliant finish to put Real Madrid two goals in front late in the opening 45 minutes.
