Former Celtic favourite Kyogo could be set to leave Rennes this summer, according to a report. The Japanese attacker swapped the Scottish Champions for the Ligue 1 side during the winter transfer window but the 30-year-old has failed to hit the heights he achieved in Glasgow.
According to Jeunes Footeux, Rennes are planning to replace Kyogo in the summer with Florian Thauvin a target.
Kyogo was signed by Jorge Sampaoli but the Argentine coach was replaced just three days into Kyogo’s time at the club. New manager Habib Beye doesn’t appear to fancy the player and has confined him to bit-part status.
Despite being a star at Celtic, Kyogo has made just 4 appearances for Rennes – totalling 112 minutes. The player appeared to be irreplaceable but Daizen Maeda has picked up the mantle from his compatriot and has impressed as he surely heads towards POTY. Kyogo, meanwhile, will have to try force his way into the team before the end of the year to avoid being moved on, especially with his ambitions to compete at the World Cup.
Celtic will look to bring another striker into the club this summer with Mathias Kvistgaarden the heavy favourite to join from Brondby.
