Former AC Milan star Sandro Tonali is desperate to return to Serie A amid speculation linking him with Inter and Juventus.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Tonali wants to leave Newcastle United after less than two years.
The highly-rated midfielder left Stadio San Siro to join the Magpies for a reported fee of €70 million in the summer of 2023.
However, his career at St James’ Park has never taken off.
Indeed, a lengthy nine-month ban for illegal betting activities has significantly derailed Tonali’s prospects in the Premier League.
Therefore, the Italy international is eager to return to his homeland.
It’s hard to envisage a transfer of this magnitude happening in January.
But Newcastle would likely listen to offers for their unsettled ace at the end of the season.
Despite his previous ties with Milan, Tonali has drawn interest from Inter and Juventus.
Meanwhile, the Rossoneri would gladly welcome the 24-year-old back to San Siro.
However, a lack of funds could rule Milan out of the race, paving the way for Inter to steal the Italian jewel.
Beppe Marotta is in the market for midfield reinforcements, particularly amid Kristjan Asllani’s poor form.
