Report: Leeds make Chelsea ace top target, shock summer move under consideration | OneFootball

Leeds United are giving serious consideration to making a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic this summer according to reports.

The Blues are once again set for another busy window and could fund their business by selling as many as seven or eight players.

Chelsea face a critical window with the club looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Leeds considering Petrovic move

Whilst incomings will be key this summer, outgoings are also very important with the Blues looking to move on a number of stars who are now surplus to requirements.

Axel Disasi, Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Armando Broja are amongst names who are likely to leave the club.

One player fans won’t want to see leave is Petrovic who’s had an exceptional season at Strasbourg, with the Ligue 1 club still in with a chance of qualifying for Champions League football.

However, TEAMtalk have reported that newly promoted Leeds are giving “serious” consideration to making a move for Petrovic, who’s high on their list of targets as they search for a new number one.

The 25-year-old joined Chelsea in the summer of 2023 from MLS side New England Revolution for £14m, and the Blues would likely be in line to double their money if they decided to cash in this summer.

Chelsea face crucial goalkeeper decision

The Serb has been labelled as world class by Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior, and it’s thought Petrovic will compete for the number one shirt next year.

It’s understood Chelsea will carry out a review of the goalkeeper position this summer before deciding if they need to enter market.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel, but if they opt against signing a new keeper the Blues will pick two from Petrovic, Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen and Mike Penders.

Whatever Chelsea decide to do it’s vital they make the right decision as they can’t afford to go into another season with such uncertainty between the sticks.
