Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport claims Roma had shown interest in Stefano Pioli as Daniele De Rossi’s replacement.
Ivan Juric was not Roma’s first-choice, as already revealed by initial reports on the day of Juric’s appointment.
In fact, Roma had looked for ex-Milan coach Stefano Pioli.
The Italian technician, however, was already in advanced negotiations with Al-Nassr and attempts to convince the Saudi federation to halt negotiations did not bear fruit.
As a result, Roma immediately their attention to Ivan Juric who was waiting for a call from a Serie A club after concluding his three-year contract with Torino earlier this summer.
His arrival was also facilitated thanks to the good relations with agent Giuseppe Riso who, among others, oversaw Tommaso Baldanzi’s transfer to Roma from Empoli.
