Tottenham Hotspur’s persistent defensive issues have deepened with centre-back Kevin Danso now set for a spell on the sidelines. The January signing, brought in to reinforce a depleted backline, has suffered a muscle injury, adding to Ange Postecoglou’s ongoing selection headaches.
Spurs have been navigating a mounting crisis at the back, with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies all enduring spells out this season. While Romero and Van de Ven have only recently returned, Davies remains unavailable.

Radu Dragusin’s serious knee injury in January left Tottenham further exposed, and now, Danso has joined the growing list of absentees. The Austrian defender appeared to sustain a hamstring issue towards the end of Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, immediately heading down the tunnel with medical staff.
The full extent of Danso’s injury remains unclear, but early indications suggest he will be sidelined for a number of weeks. The timing, however, is somewhat favourable. With Spurs facing AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday and Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday, the upcoming international break could allow Danso time to recover without missing too many crucial fixtures.
Postecoglou will be desperate to have defensive reinforcements available for the clash against Chelsea on 3 April. It was the chaotic 4-3 defeat at Stamford Bridge in December that first set Spurs’ injury woes in motion, with Romero and Van de Ven both suffering significant setbacks.

As Tottenham look to maintain momentum in both the league and Europe, managing this latest injury setback will be vital.
