Resurgent Barcelona star in line to replace Lamine Yamal against Atletico Madrid | OneFootball

Barcelona’s final game of 2024 is against Atletico Madrid at Montjuic and the men in white are not in a good run of form heading into the big game.

If the team’s poor run at home was not enough, they will also be without Lamine Yamal on the night after the teenage phenom left the field injured against Leganes and the youngster is ruled out for three to four weeks.

With his star man out, Hansi Flick has his work cut out for him as to how he will replace Yamal on the night. After all, Barcelona have not fared well in his absence so far.

The best option

As relayed in a recent update on MARCA, all signs point to Ferran Toore replacing Yamal against Los Rojiblancos although it is not clear where he will play.

The winger could start on the right directly in place of Yamal with Raphinha continuing on the left flank or switch places with the Brazilian and thus take up duties on the left.

Torres has been in good touch in recent games and even scored a brace to help Barcelona win over Borussia Dortmund at Singal Iduna Park. He is the number one option to start in Yamal’s place with Fermin Lopez being the next best option.

Flick has found it difficult to replace the Golden Boy this season and has tried five different combinations in the five games the team has played without him – a clear sign of his helplessness.

Barcelona hope to have Yamal back in time for the Spanish Super Cup semifinal in January and there is optimism over his chances of making it in time.
