The Man United boss has put forward his case as to why he’s under more pressure than his Spurs counterpart

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim says he faces “bigger” pressure than Ange Postecoglou due to being in charge of a “bigger club”.

Man Utd travel to London on Sunday for a Premier League clash against Tottenham.

Though it’s not the ‘Super Sunday’ clash many would have envisaged when this fixture was pencilled in back in June 2024 as both sides have endured below-par league campaigns thus far.

United begin the weekend in 13th with Spurs one place and two points behind them. That said, they could each slide down the Premier League table before a ball is kicked at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Everton and West Ham in action on Sunday.

Last week’s FA Cup fourth round win over Leicester offered the Red Devils some respite but Spurs were knocked out by Aston Villa just days after losing 4-0 to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Despite those domestic cup eliminations, Postecoglou remains in charge of Tottenham and the under-fire boss retains the support and backing of Amorim.

However, whilst accepting the similarities with his opposite number, the Man United boss has moved to settle any debate with regards to who is under pressure by comparing the size of both clubs.

Speaking on Friday, Amorim said: "I’m a huge fan of Ange Postecoglou, of course I’m from a different culture, I’m Portuguese and all the Portuguese coaches can adapt.

“The simple thing is I use one system in the moment because I believe if you work on that system you can play in different systems at the same time, so that is the idea.

“But we are not winning games and I can understand the connection between me and Ange. We have the same problems.

“In my opinion, with all due respect, I am in a bigger club with bigger pressure so I understand the pressure and I think it’s important for the coach to follow all of these principles."
