While all eyes will be on Barcelona’s Copa del Rey clash against Valencia tonight, coach Hansi Flick will also have one eye on the important league encounter with Sevilla this weekend.
Barcelona, after all, will travel to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan to face Sevilla, a club with which Barça had severed ties in 2023.
However, in a major development, it appears Sevilla have extended an invitation to Barcelona’s representatives to attend the match from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan box, reports AS.
This gesture could signify a thaw in the icy relations between the two clubs since their fallout on September 29, 2023.
The tension between Barcelona and Sevilla stems from the ‘Negreira case,’ which led the Andalusian club to issue a firm statement against the Catalan giants.

In response, Barça severed all institutional ties, creating a cold war between the two historic clubs.
Since then, Sevilla’s board, led by President Jose Maria del Nido Carrasco, has actively avoided the VIP section of the Blaugrana’s temporary home at Montjuic.
Barcelona representatives, however, were present in the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan box during last season’s fixture, though without club president Joan Laporta.
Now, Sevilla’s invitation to Barcelona suggests a possible softening of relations. It remains unclear which Barça officials will accept the offer, but the report suggests that Laporta himself might be among those making the trip.
Historically, Barcelona have frequently looked to Sevilla for reinforcements, most notably in the case of Jules Kounde’s €50 million transfer in 2022.
However, since the fallout, no business dealings have taken place between the two clubs, even though the Andalusians were interested in Ansu Fati this past month.
