The Sky Sports column ‘Jones Knows’ has given some interesting analysis and commentary on what is currently the position at Newcastle United.

The column makes predictions on what will happen at certain Premier League matches and also debates other matters/issues at clubs as well.

However, unlike the usual ex-pro predictions, that are usually simply based on how ‘big’ a club is and whether or not they won the previous game, this one has proper analysis and insight, not lazy assumptions.

The Sky Sports ‘Jones Knows’ column looks at the matches from a betting perspective and has been concentrating on this Newcastle United game away at Arsenal.

Lewis Jones (who is the Sky Sports expert behind the ‘Jones Knows’ column) has highlighted some major underlying factors that could/should have a big bearing on this Arsenal v Newcastle game.

“The draw at 5/2 with Sky Bet must be of interest based on it suiting both teams.

“If this rolls past 70 minutes with the scores level we could get a drifty end that peters out.

“Newcastle know a point will be just fine for their prospects as they’d have Champions League qualification firmly in their hands heading into the final day knowing a win over Everton at home would secure a top-five finish.

“Meanwhile, you get the feeling Mikel Arteta and his boys just want the season to end now.

“Arsenal have dropped 18 points in their last 11 Premier League games, winning just three times and have been beaten by the Toon on three occasions already this season.

“A draw is fine for them in terms of finishing second with only Southampton to come for them.

Interesting analysis, as always, from the Sky Sports expert.

Struggle to disagree with pretty much any of that.

Last weekend, the Sky Sports man made two predictions for the Newcastle v Chelsea match.

Happily, the right one he was proved correct on.

The Sky Sports expert predicting Enzo Fernandez would get booked, which he did just before half-time.

His prediction though of a 2-1 Chelsea win at SJP fell flat, as United won it 2-0.

Another big Champions League match today and no surprise if our Sky Sports friend is proved correct this time.

Only Everton (15) have drawn more Premier League matches than Arsenal (14) this season and the Gunners have drawn six of their last ten PL matches (There again, Newcastle United have only drawn one of their last 22 Premier League matches. Indeed, only Wolves and Spurs (five each) have drawn less PL games than NUFC’s six).

The fact is though, that the two teams couldn’t be in more different form.

Newcastle United have won eight of their last eleven Premier League games, whilst Arsenal have failed to win eight of their last eleven.

I think every chance that Newcastle can get something today and as the Sky Sports expert makes clear, it wouldn’t be a bad result for either side.
