Slot backs Postecoglou to win a trophy at Tottenham and says it is a ‘privilege’ to watch them | OneFootball

Liverpool boss Arne Slot says he hopes to see Ange Postecoglou win a trophy at Tottenham.

Spurs host Slot’s league leaders on Sunday off the back of an exciting 4-3 win over Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Thursday.

And the Liverpool head coach says he has enjoyed watching Tottenham this season.

“I hope, hope, hope he wins a trophy,” Slot said.

“Not the League Cup but I am completely a fan of his team for the Europa League. People talk about trophies, trophies, trophies and that is so important.

“For me his brand of football is more important and if he can combine it with winning something that would be so good for football in general because then people can stop talking about ‘is it too attacking?’ How on earth can you play too much attacking football?”

Postecoglou has been criticised for his lack of adaptability at times this season but Slot says that is a positive for his team.

“They are consistent in their playing style and what they want,” he said. “They can be unlucky as well, what happened yesterday they dominated the game. They always like to attack, he plays always with three attackers, two attacking midfielders and his full-backs join the attack so much.

“People say ‘why do you bring the ball out from the back’ because they lost the ball and the second one the goalkeeper kicked it away.

“But I think it is a privilege to be a season ticket holder at Tottenham, to be a fan of them at the moment because they play such a great style.”
