Spurs striker Dominic Solanke says team-mate Lucas Bergvall has the potential to become a great player for the club.
Solanke set up the 18-year-old to score the winner in Tottenham’s 1-0 Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg win over Liverpool on Wednesday.
The youngster has received more opportunity of late with Spurs missing players through injuries and suspension and Solanke says he is excited about what Bergvall can achieve.
“Obviously he’s matured and learned a lot since he’s come which is great,” Solanke said.
“We want players like that here. Young players, hungry players, and he’s shown that.
“He’s put in some very good performances this season and like I mentioned, he’s still got a lot to work on and improve and I’m sure he’ll be a great player for us.
“He’s a terrific player. He’s shown that this season already and he’s still young, still has a lot to grow and improve, but on the training pitch he’s always doing that.”
Spurs had gone winless in four games before beating Liverpool but Solanke says he is optimistic that the team can put their bad run behind them.
“We believe in ourselves,” he said. “We know we’ve been through a tough period recently, missing a lot of players as well, but we’re showing character and I think we showed that (against Liverpool).”
