‘Something I have rarely seen’ – Luka Modrić full of praise for Real Madrid teammate Kylian Mbappé | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappé (26) and Luka Modrić (39) will line up as opponents, not teammates, at the Stade de France this evening as France face Croatia in the second leg of the UEFA Nations League quarter-final. The Croatian midfielder has, however, spoken highly of his Real Madrid teammate ahead of the game, during an interview with Téléfoot.

Mbappé joined Los Blancos in the summer, arriving on a free transfer after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired. At the Bernabeu, he joined Modrić. Since the arrival of the France captain in the Spanish capital, the pair have featured together on 37 occasions.

Mbappé has already made a big impression on the Croatia captain. “On Kylian as a footballer, there is nothing more to say – he is one of the best players in the world,” began Modrić in an interview aired on Téléfoot on Sunday morning.

He continued, “He has so many abilities and honestly, it is something that I have rarely seen.” In his career, Modrić has played with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, and Karim Benzema.

Modrić says Mbappé ‘one of the best’ he has seen

“But what impresses me the most about him is his personality. He is an incredible boy, very humble, always ready to crack a joke, to help his teammates. He is calm,” added Modrić before going on to address Mbappé’s critics, despite the Frenchman netting over 30 goals in his debut season with Real Madrid.

“Kylian, from the outside, you can say that it hasn’t been his best season but he still has over 30 goals. Imagine if he raises his level! Kylian is an incredible talent, one of the best that I have seen but as I said, what impresses me most about him is his personality because he really is an incredible boy,” said Modrić. Flattering words from the Croatian who will nonetheless hope to see Mbappé and France, crash out of the Nations League this evening.
