Ivan Juric feels foolish to admit that Southampton have stepped up their Premier League performance.

Southampton's Premier League campaign could be summarised in two parts. Firstly, when Russell Martin was the manager and secondly, when Ivan Juric assumed the former's role.

In Martin's era, he was pretty much familiar with most of the squad players. Still, his tried and tested tactics and rigid rotation principles left him helpless in front of the Premier League opponents.

Regarding Juric, he brings a wealth of top flight pedigree with him having managed Torino and Roma in the past. Thus, one can say that he could succeed with his game plan, an area where Martin couldn't.

Even, defensive leader Jan Bednarek is convinced with this idea. Yet, what's strange is that the former boss managed a Premier League win while the latter is still trying.

Now, the Croatian looks slightly clueless in his approach as well.

Recently, Ivan Juric previewed today's opponents Ipswich Town and made a silly Southampton claim.

As quoted by the Daily Echo, Juric said: "It's a good team but it's a big chance for us to start winning the games. It's really stupid to say, but I feel that we are growing, that we are creating something important."

Well, Juric must be praised for acknowledging his rather strange opinion. Still, claiming to be improving while not learning from previous errors isn't a very good judgment.

As an example, Southampton's late defeat against Manchester United should have taught them to remain calm under key moments. Still, next week they repeated this pattern against Newcastle United at home.

Slowly and steadily, Southampton's winless streak has been prolonging further.

Though the Saints have progressed in a few aspects, such as scoring, they must learn the skill of securing points from any match situation. Because, at this point, Southampton needs Premier League points more than just playing well.

The Ipswich Town match is another golden opportunity to earn some of them but let's see whether they will successfully perform the task at hand.
