Premier League are expected to keep an eye on Southampton's coaching recruitments. If the Saints agree on terms with an English manager, the English first division will see a slight increase in their falling pride.
Over the past decade, the Premier League has established its dominance as the most challenging football league. Clearly, there are no two ways about this fact but the English top flight is also losing out some ground in terms of pride.
One of the well documented evidence can be found in the stagnating relegation contests. Yet, there is another intriguing aspect that reflects poorly on the Premier League while hardly making any on-field difference.
To give a hint, the worrying area is related to managers.
Don't get me wrong, it's not about making bad appointing decisions. Instead, the concern is about the diminishing English representation in the country's most reputed tournament.
Talking about stats, there are only two Englishmen including a Southampton target who navigated his return to the Premier League recently.
Hence, the Saints are urged to improve this tally by bringing an English head coach on board.
Though Southampton are inclined towards Danny Rohl, retired fullback Joe Jacobson wants the Saints to take a glance at Liam Rosenior's credentials.
As quoted by the Football League World, Jacobson talked about Rosenior: "He's obviously gone out to Strasbourg and done well, so he'll be desperate to get into the Premier League or the top of the Championship at some point, and I think Southampton coming down to the Championship would be a good fit for him."
Going by Jacobson's compliments, Rosenior stands out as a versatile tactician who might have accumulated a huge wealth of game-plan strategies. Yet, Ivan Juric's ongoing shortcomings indicate that there are still enough reasons that Rosenior's top-flight experience may not boost the Saints.
Ultimately, the club must explore the maximum number of alternatives they can because there are still a couple of months to initiate their future preparations.
