Spain has an incredible generation heading into the next decade of international football, but Real Madrid barely have any representation on that front.
Raul Asencio’s rise, however, serves as the first ticket for a youngster at the Valdebebas to break into the La Roja setup especially given his young age and sound performances.
While the academy star has been on the rise for a while now, Spain National Team manager Luis de La Fuente time and time again insisted on patience over Asencio’s inclusion, citing high competition in the squad.
Now, the situation appears to have changed after a pivotal development.
The likes of Pau Cubarsi, Aitor Paredes, Daniel Vivian, Aymeric Laporte, and Robin Le Normand have been trusted by De La Fuente in the department in recent months.

Now, however, Laporte has suffered an injury in his team’s game against Al-Faihah in the Saudi League and is expected to be out for several weeks, possibly even months.
Journlist Rodra, thus, reports that Laporte’s injury could well open up the doors for Asencio to enter the Spanish National Team dynamics, possibly even in the upcoming international break.
Spain next return to action in under a month as they lock horns with the Netherlands on 20th March in the UEFA Nations League.
Asencio may be called up for the event in light of the recent developments, and while he may not start, a debut off the bench is not ruled out. Needless to say, it comes as massive news for the offices in Madrid.
So far this season, the 22-year-old has made eight starts in La Liga and has overseen three clean sheets in that duration. Further, he averages over eight defensive actions per game.
