‘Spoken with entourage’: Utd curb Delap pursuit after learning 147-goal star is ‘very interested’ in Old Trafford switch

Manchester United have reportedly put a pin in their rumoured Liam Delap pursuit and instead turned their attention to a more experienced No.9.

Indeed, the Red Devils have reset their sights on Victor Osimhen amid reports he is ‘tempted’ by a move to the Premier League.

England’s top flight is the only league apart from Saudi Arabia’s that would be able to match the forward’s lucrative wage demands, which equate to around £10.2 million per year.

Whether United would be willing to fork out a hefty price tag and subsequetly meet his salary expectations remains to be seen, but the prospect of having such a prolific and proven goalscorer leading Ruben Amorim’s line from next season is an attractive one.

Alas, FootMercato claims INEOS chiefs have already ‘spoken with Osimhen’s entourage’ as they ‘seriously consider’ a formal approach to Napoli, though they’ll presumably have to wait until his loan spell with Galatasaray draws to a close to be able to negotiate properly with the player and club.

The Super Lig leaders would love nothing more than to keep hold of their unstoppable talisman beyond the current campaign, especially given he’s notched a stunning 33 goals and eight assists in 37 appearances. However, they’ve conceded that a permanent transfer is likely to be well out of their budget.

Osimhen warming to idea of an Old Trafford switch

That, in turn, paves the way for United to step in and test Napoli’s resolve. Osimhen’s broken relationship with Antonio Conte means he has no future with the Italian giants, despite being contracted to them until June 2026.

Still, the 26-year-old Nigerian star remains a ‘solid alternative’, and he is ‘very interested’ in the idea of plying his trade at the Theatre of Dreams.
