On Thursday evening, Tottenham Hotspur overturned their 1-0 first leg deficit against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League, with a 3-1 victory in North London. As always, they did not make things easy, but did play some very good football in spells, particularly for the third goal of the evening.

After Alkmaar tried pressing Spurs deep in their own half, James Maddison took two players out of the game by feigning to return the ball to Djed Spence, before turning and driving through the middle of the pitch. From there, he found Spence much further up the pitch, who played the ball to Son - receiving it back on the overlap, crossing towards Dominic Solanke, who flicked the ball to the far post for Wilson Odobert to tap home. That was AngeBall at its finest.

The Spurs faithful are not under any illusions that things will have to improve if they are to win the competition. They could have conceded more goals in both legs against the sixth best team in the Netherlands. There will be other sides who will punish them for any slackness.

One of those sides is Eintracht Frankfurt - whom will be playing Spurs in the quarter-finals, after overcoming a Dutch side of their own in Ajax - winning the second leg 4-1, which secured a 6-2 win on aggregate.

Spurs to play Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt in quarter-finals

The German side currently sit fourth in the Bundesliga, with 42 points from 25 games - and were doing even better in the first half of the season, before selling star man Omar Marmoush to Manchester City in the winter transfer window.

We will do an opposition preview on them in full, but to just quickly go over things - some fans will be aware of star man Hugo Ekitike - France U21 team mate of Odobert and Mathys Tel - whom has notched 13 times in the Bundesliga this season, as well as scoring and assisting in the aforementioned win over Ajax.

No doubt about it, this will be a tough tie to navigate for Spurs, particularly as the second leg will be played in Germany. The first leg will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday, the 10th of April, and the second leg at the Frankfurt Stadion on Thursday, the 17th of April.

Still, it's never going to be easy in the latter stages of tournaments. Should Spurs progress, that is a contender knocked out of the way in the process. Let's see what happens. Should be exciting.
