Find out all the stats and facts from the Parisians' 3-0 victory over FC Salzburg on Tuesday 10th December 2024 as part of Matchday 6 of the league phase in the UEFA Champions League.
This trip to Austria had a number of motivations. The first was to win, of course, so that we can look forward to the final two games of the league phase with confidence and the chance of qualifying. Secondly, to rediscover the efficiency that had been lacking in the last two Ligue 1 outings, against Nantes and Auxerre.
On Tuesday evening, the Parisians found it again, and in style. Three goals, plenty of chances and a clean sheet away from home! In fact, PSG scored more goals (3) than they accumulated Expected Goals (2.95 xG) for the first time in a Champions League match since the quarter-final second leg against Barcelona last season (+1.64 - 4 goals for 2.36 xG). A stat that is finally in line with the number of chances created!
All their objectives have therefore been achieved, as this stat shows: before this match, Paris Saint-Germain had a 57% chance of finishing in the top 24 in the league phase of this edition of the Champions League, this has now risen to 69% after their success in Salzburg.
Gonçalo Ramos finally scored his first goal of the season! The Portuguese centre-forward, who had been out of action for a long time since Matchday 1 of Ligue 1, finished off a well-worked move started by Barcola. Hakimi picked up the ball delivered the assist to Ramos. The Moroccan right-back, who is in contention for the African Player of the Year award (result on 16th December), put in a top-class performance, with a record equalled in the process (see below).
Désiré Doué was delighted to score his first-ever goal for the club on Tuesday evening, perfectly set up by... Hakimi! Finally, although he did not score against Salzburg, Barcola also regained his confidence, completing 10 dribbles (out of 14 attempted), more than any other player in a Champions League match this season. The Paris striker was also voted man of the match!
Achraf Hakimi is unstoppable! Consistent, calm and putting in some remarkable performances, the Moroccan international continues to prove that he is clearly one of the best in the world in his position. On Tuesday evening in Salzburg, Achraf was involved in a goal for the 40th and 41st time with Paris in all competitions (17 goals, 24 assists). He also equalled Maxwell as the defender with the most assists for the club in the 21st century.
