Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is being targeted by Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, according to a report from L’Equipe.
The 32-year-old forward has only a few months remaining on his contract at Anfield, and the Reds have yet to reach an agreement with him.
Salah has been in outstanding form this season for Liverpool, but as it stands, he will leave the club for free at the end of the season.
Al Hilal, who previously made an attempt to sign the Reds attacker, have initiated contact to sign him. They have approached Salah’s agent, offering him the chance to play for them next season.
The mega-rich Saudi club will have no problems in matching his wage demands.
Salah is arguably one of the best players in Liverpool’s history, and he is a club legend. He wants to continue at Anfield, win trophies, and break records, but Liverpool are hesitant to offer lucrative contracts for players over 30.
He has been in phenomenal form this season, scoring 18 goals in the Premier League and providing 13 assists as well. Salah is also involved in six goals (two goals and four assists) in the 2024/25 Champions League campaign.
The Egyptian has scored a remarkable 232 goals in 376 games for the club since joining from Roma in 2017 for an initial £36.5 million fee.
Salah is a key member of the current squad, and unless the Saudi club come up with a massive offer, Liverpool are unlikely to sell their best player in January.
Arne Slot and Liverpool cannot simply think of losing him in the middle of the season.
It is unclear at the moment whether he will sign a new deal at the club. Liverpool do not want to break their wage structure and make an exceptional case for Salah, so the contract situation is likely to drag on until the end of the season.
