Brentford Under-18s beat Swansea Under-18s 2-1 in the Professional Development League on Saturday afternoon in Wales.

Two goals late in the first-half saw the teams level at the break but Nedved Owusu won the game late on for the young Bees.

Evan Anderson was called into action early on as Bobo Evans latched on to a cut back and the Brentford keeper tipped his low effort behind for a corner within three minutes.

The game struggled to come alive; Naeem Giscombe beat a few men in the box but his deflected effort looped into the hands of Sam Seager in the Swans' goal.

Anderson was the busier keeper in the first half though, and parried a free kick from Milo Robinson away from goal on the half hour mark.

It was the young Bees who got the opening goal of the game, however. On the counter attack, Luka Bentt drove down the right and slotted an excellent pass across the goalmouth to Emeka Peters who tapped home from close range to make it 1-0.

The lead was short-lived though; just before the half-time whistle Caio Ifans struck home from inside the box after a cross from Osian Williams on the right to level the game.

Trialist B intercepted a loose touch just after the restart and bared down on the Swansea goal, but Keil Higginson recovered well to stop him getting his shot off.

Swansea should have taken the lead on 53 minutes when Billy Clarke had time and space in the Brentford box but dragged his effort wide.

After that, both sides struggled to create chances in a bitty second half. Clarke went close again with an improvised volley.

Anderson then made an excellent stop with his legs to deny Evans with ten minutes to play from close range and Jon-Paul Pittman's side went down the other end to take the lead.

Subsitutes combined as Domeiro Bobb-Semple slid in Nedved Owusu who carried the ball on the right into the penalty area, before tucking a composed finish into the bottom left corner to go ahead on 81 minutes.

Evans fizzed a half volley that swerved wide of Anderson's post, and Staitham Bowen recovered excellently to make a vital block to ensure the young Bees held out for the win which sees them leapfrog the Swans in the table.

The U18s are next in action away at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday 3 May (11am kick-off BST) as they look to end the season strong.
