Striker Francesco Pio Esposito says that returning to Inter Milan to play for the first team would be “a dream.”
Speaking at the Gran Gala del Calcio, via FCInterNews, Pio Esposito gave his thoughts on his ambitions with his parent club the Nerazzurri.
Esposito has been on loan at Spezia this season. This is the second campaign in a row that he has spent on loan with the Ligurians.
Last time out, the Inter striker had gotten his first experience in senior football with the Serie B side.
And while it was a fairly positive season of growth as Esposito found his feet at a higher level than youth team football and integrated into the team, he was not exactly prolific.
This season has been different. Esposito has begun to score regularly as he has really hit the ground running back at Spezia.
The 19-year-old has been a key player as his team push for promotion to Serie A.
Inter and Esposito decided on sending the teenage striker back to a familiar environment in the second division this season rather than having him join a Serie A team on loan.
And this idea appears to be paying off in a big way.
It now seems inevitable that Pio Esposito will be starring in Serie A sooner or later.
It may not be at Inter right away. A loan could be on the cards for next season, to a smaller team within the top flight.
Meanwhile, Napoli reportedly want to sign Pio Esposito.
But sooner or later, the young striker has his eye on a place in the Inter first team.
As far as a future at Inter, Pio Esposito says that “It’s certainly a dream.”
“After ten years in the youth academy, where I represented this shirt all over the world.”
“We all know how high a level Inter is,” Pio Esposito added. “So I have to take it one step at a time, calmly.”
As far as transfer links to big sides, Pio Esposito admitted that “I’ve read them.”
“My friends send me articles sometimes,” the teenage striker added.
“But it would be stupid to focus on anything else, we’re having a tough season at Spezia.”
“I can’t lose my focus at the moment. I want to take Spezia to Serie A.”
