Journalist Daniel Riolo has blasted Luis Enrique for what he has called “communist football” after the Paris Saint-Germain manager advised against signing stars this summer.

According to the After Foot columnist, the PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was in favour of the club bringing in one or two stars, a player like Victor Osimhen (25) who was on the market, following his wish to leave Napoli.

However, it was reported that Luis Enrique and sporting director Luís Campos were not in favour of bringing a big-name star to the team, and instead wanted players that could fit a collective attitude like Désiré Doué (19) and João Neves (19).

Riolo criticised the manager on his radio show after PSG dropped points on the road to Stade de Reims this weekend, “I don’t see this extraordinary and brilliant collective freed from the weight of individuality. In the end, it is a collective that we don’t understand anything about, a vague communication based on lies and an individuality that no longer exists, that’s communist football.”

“Luis Enrique has totalitarian ideals in his ideas and in his way of imposing his football without debate. Even his mentor, Pep Guardiola, has to admit that playing with a star like Erling Haaland was useful to him,” Riolo concluded.
