Enzo Maresca believes players like Cole Palmer and Joao Felix are the reason why people buy tickets to watch football matches.

The Blues made it three wins in a row in all competitions with a convincing 3-0 win against Aston Villa in arguably their best performance of the season.

Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez both scored for the second week running, whilst Palmer got back amongst the goals with a brilliant finish.

The win sees the Blues move back into the top three and level on points with Arsenal as they remain on track to qualify for the Champions League.

Palmer had gone three games without a goal contribution prior to finding the back of the net against Villa, but he was back to his brilliant best as he put in a man of the match performance.

The England international now has eight goals and six assists from 13 games this season as he looks to repeat his feats of last season.

Some of Chelsea’s attacking play was brilliant with Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho causing problems down the wings, whilst Nicolas Jackson was once again impressive.

Maresca introduced Felix in the second half and he produced a brilliant piece of skill to get free and bare down on goal but his effort was saved.

Speaking after the game the Italian claimed that players like Felix and Palmer are why people buy tickets to watch matches.

“Cole Palmer and Joao Felix are the players that make people pay for tickets. It doesn’t mean the rest are not good but they are different from the rest,” he said as quoted by journalist Nizaar Kinsella.

It’s a bold claim for sure and you can understand it with Palmer given what he’s done since he arrived at Chelsea, but with Felix it’s less clear as he’s not featured that regularly despite the obvious talent he has.

Both players will have a key role to play over the busy Christmas period as the Blues look to consolidate their place in the top four.
