Former Rangers star Alan Hutton says that the Gers hierarchy feel the need to stop the cycle of changing managers frequently and thinks that Philippe Clement will stay despite the defeat against Queen’s Park on Sunday.
Rangers suffered a 1-0 defeat at Ibrox against Queen’s Park on Sunday, which has seen them getting knocked out of the Scottish Cup.
They are currently 13 points behind league leaders Celtic in the league standings and as Rangers chances of taking home silverware dwindle, questions over Clement’s future have surfaced again.
However, Hutton is confident that the Gers will not sack their manager despite getting knocked out by Championship side Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup.
He stated that the Rangers hierarchy want to stop the rinse and repeat of changing managers to players to build a stable side but admits that Gers on the pitch results are not good enough at the moment.
When asked whether Rangers will sack Clement after Sunday’s performance, Hutton said on Premier Sports: “I still believe they will stick with him.
“They feel that the rinse and repeat of changing managers and changing players has to stop at some stage, so I do believe they will stick with him.
“But it is a result-driven business, and you have to get results and at this moment in time, that is not good enough.”
Rangers have qualified for the next round of the Europa League and are next set to face Hearts on Sunday.
