FLW's Bristol Rovers fan pundit has given his verdict on the owners' transparency
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Bristol Rovers have endured a difficult and disappointing season in League One so far.
The Pirates have been in the fight to avoid relegation to League Two in just their third campaign back in the division.
Owner Hussain AlSaeed will be hoping that the team can avoid the drop back to the fourth tier, with a midweek win over Bolton Wanderers improving their chances of staying up considerably.
The Kuwaiti businessman has been in control of the club since 2023, but results on the pitch have struggled since his arrival as a majority investor in Bristol Rovers.
When asked whether the club’s owners are transparent enough, FLW’s Bristol Rovers fan pundit offered praise for how they’ve turned things around.
He believes that the Bristol outfit have listened to supporter feedback, and have become more transparent compared to in the recent past.
“In previous [answers] I have criticised [the owners] a bit, saying they’ve not been transparent enough and the fans want more,” Carter told Football League World.
“However, much more recently, they’ve done fan interviews and I think the fans are beginning to get on their side.
“Especially with the interviews they’re doing showing the ins and outs of the club, so showing who has got what job, while they briefly explain what jobs they do and what they think of the club and everything like that.
“So I think they are now transparent enough with the fanbase after the fanbase have criticised them, correctly so in my opinion.
“And I think fair play to them because they have listened to the fans a lot more, and they’ve been a lot more open.”
Bristol Rovers finished 15th in the League One table last season, but are now hovering just above the bottom four.
Supporters will be frustrated with how things are going for the club on the pitch, with the team enduring a relatively terrible campaign.
However, improved communication from the owners will ease those frustrations a little, especially going into the summer.
Maintaining this level of transparency will be key to keeping the fans onside while the club looks to improve matters both on and off the field.
Given the recent change in ownership, some stumbling blocks are likely to arise, but the ability to listen to criticism from the fans is a positive sign for Bristol Rovers going forward.
