Tomori previews Feyenoord and Milan future after ‘expected’ mercato interest | OneFootball

Fikayo Tomori and the AC Milan squad are currently preparing for their second-leg fixture of the Champions League playoffs against Feyenoord, and the Englishman previewed the tie this afternoon.

Across the board, Milan have struggled this season and many of the key players in recent years have also experienced this feeling. Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez have grabbed headlines consistently, but Tomori has also struggled somewhat regularly.

However, under Sergio Conceicao, he has gained another lease of life and he can hopefully improve further to reach his former levels.

Of course, it may not have been like this, with the Englishman’s exit in January looking a possibility, Tomori may not have had the chance to redeem himself with the Diavolo. Nevertheless, an overriding desire to remain with Milan meant that he now gets the chance to restore his levels.

Why can Milan advance tomorrow?

“We have to come onto the pitch with the right attitude and the desire to win that we always have. We know that we didn’t do as we wanted in the first leg but tomorrow we know what to do, win with two goals. We are ready and fired up to win.”

“As a team and as defenders, we take to the field every game with the aim of not conceding goals and tomorrow we are already one down. We know the quality we have: but if we concede a goal we must not lose concentration and believe in what we are doing.

What does Walker bring?

“Kyle and I always talk. He brought a bit of calm and experience: I think the whole team knows the quality and the trophies he has won, we are happy to have him with us. When he says something everyone listens, we know the player he is.

“He is not like Ibra, he has a different way but he is still growing in this team: since he arrived he has done a great job.”

What were the difficulties in Rotterdam and what did you study?

“After the game, we talked among ourselves but we didn’t see the images because we had Verona: today I’m sure we’ll watch the first leg to see the things we didn’t do well. Their forwards played a good game, with aggression in the duels and depth with the ball.

“We have to see what we can improve. The most important thing for me is to focus on what we can do better.”

“I have always said that I felt at home here: nothing has changed. I know that in every transfer market there are clubs and people who talk about it: I was and am now focused on what I have to do, stay here.

“The coach always says that whether we play with 3, 4 or 5 the objective is always the same: to win. To do that you have to run and fight, do everything to win.

“We go on the pitch and the starters go on the pitch to win the match. If we have 3, 4, 7 or 10 up front it’s only to win.”
