Tottenham Hotspur Foundation staff will take on a virtual race across Europe to raise funds for local organisations supporting vulnerable children and families.

The Race Europe event will see teams of 23 representatives from 14 London football clubs aim to be the fastest to cover the 6,720 miles that separate all of the Euro 2021 host cities.

Organised by London United, the event will take place throughout March and see participants log miles in nearly 80 different activities including running, swimming, dancing, football – even mowing the lawn! A live event portal will chart the progress of each club team.

Legendary former midfielder and Club Ambassador, Ossie Ardiles, will be the Foundation’s team leader – his role will be to motivate and encourage the 23 participants to complete the challenge and cross the finish line in the fastest time possible.

Funds raised by the team will go towards local organisations supporting vulnerable children and families locally, including Pembury House School Nursery.

Pembury House has been working throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to provide high-quality nursery care. Funds raised will enable them to continue delivering a variety of research, artistic and creative projects which transform the lives of young children.

The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation has a long established and valued partnership with its local communities where there are significant socio-economic challenges.

Through the Foundation, the Club delivers a range of creative, innovative and engaging programmes for people from our local communities.

Speaking ahead of the event, Ossie said: “This is a fantastic event that will help raise vital funds for Pembury House Nursery School and the brilliant work they do. In these challenging and uncertain times, this is a fun way to keep active and I encourage our fans to track the squad’s progress and cheer them on virtually.”

Sue Moss, Pembury House Head Teacher, said: “We are so excited and hugely grateful to be a part of this brilliant venture. It will enable us to make an amazing difference to children, families and the local community in what has been a truly difficult year. Let the race begin!”
