AC Milan are not going to qualify for the Champions League as things stand, which will have a negative impact on the accounts.
As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports this morning, without qualification for the top European club competition, Milan would fail to achieve an important objective not only on a sporting level but also on an economic level.
With no Champions League football the revenues will be decidedly less and this could affect the balance sheet, an aspect that appears to be for a long time the absolute priority of this ownership group, one which has always recorded profits since it arrived.
Things could therefore change quite a lot in terms of the summer budget that the new sporting director has to work with. However, the paper writes that some help could come from the mercato, more specifically players on loan.
There are 12 players owned by the the Rossoneri that are currently on loan around Italy and the world. If some of the options to buy are made official, it could bring around €50-60m which would help to plug a large portion of the gap from not having UCL football.
The likes of Pierre Kalulu, Yacine Adli, Noah Okafor, Ismael Bennacer, Alvaro Morata, Tommaso Pobega, Lorenzo Colombo and Devis Vasquez are all on loan with a buy-out, while Alexis Saelemaekers could also raise funds given the excellent season he is having.
