As talks with Fabio Paratici fell through, AC Milan are still looking for a sporting director. Igli Tare is currently the favourite for the job, according to a report, as he has an advantage compared to Tony D’Amico.

Paratici appeared more or less certain to become the new sporting director of Milan. However, talks broke down when an agreement couldn’t be found on certain exit clauses, which would have allowed the Rossoneri to opt for someone else in the event of criminal charges for the former Juve man.

As highlighted by Tuttosport this morning (via MilanNews), the search is thus continuing for a new director. There are two names at the top of the wish list: Igli Tare (formerly of Lazio) and Tony D’Amico (Atalanta). They are both heavily appreciated by the CEO Giorgio Furlani.

There is one key factor to consider, though, and that is the contractual status of the two. Tare is a free agent and would be able to join immediately, getting more time to plan for next season. D’Amico, meanwhile, is under contract with Atalanta and would likely be difficult to get.

Therefore, Tare is ahead in the race even if Furlani made it clear that the Rossoneri won’t rush things, keen on making the right long-term play.
