Leeds United Under-21s play their final Premier League 2 fixture of 2024 on Friday, as they welcome Blackburn Rovers Under-21s to the LNER Community Stadium.

After an impressive 1-0 victory on the road at Nottingham Forest, Scott Gardner’s youthful side have fallen to narrow defeats at the hands of Newcastle United and Fulham in the PL2.

Away from league duties, a strong display from the Whites in their National League Cup clash at neighbouring FC Halifax Town saw United triumph on penalties, after goals from Rhys Chadwick and Joe Snowdon had been cancelled out in normal time.

That strike from Chadwick at The Shay, a confident and composed finish into the bottom corner, continued the midfielder’s rich vein of form in front of goal, where the 17-year-old has netted six times in his last eight appearances.

After nine matches, the Whites’ record reads three wins, three draws and three defeats, picking up 12 points to sit eight clear of second-bottom Blackburn.

Rovers have struggled for form so far this campaign in the PL2, earning just one win and one draw from their nine matches to date.

Those two positive results however did come within the last four matches – a 3-2 victory over Leicester City and a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion – to pull clear of Stoke City at the foot of the table.

Action from the LNER Community Stadium gets underway at 7pm.
