Former La Liga tactician Javier Aguirre was left covered in blood after being struck by a projectile from the crowd in the aftermath of Mexico’s meeting with Honduras.
Aguirre guided El Tri back into action earlier today.
In the first leg of the country’s CONCACAF Nations League tie against the aforementioned Honduras, Mexico made the trip to The Francisco Morazán Stadium.
When all was said and done, the visitors endured an outing to forget, condemned to the wrong side of a 2-0 result owing to a brace on the part of Luis Palma.
On the back of the full-time whistle in San Pedro Sula, the travelling fans, in turn, were not shy in making their grievances quickly known.
As alluded to above, though, amid their post-match protests, one member of the Mexican crowd took things, by some way, too far.
This came as El Tri boss Javier Aguirre was targeted with a series of projectiles, one of which, in the form of a beer can, struck the tactician directly in the head.
Aguirre was left with blood streaming down his face, requiring subsequent medical attention amid frankly disgraceful scenes on Saturday evening.
